Eccentric Teenagers Spotted at Shopping Mall
PETALING JAYA - A group of teenagers with bizarre characters and even more bizarre dress sense were seen hanging around the shopping mall, 1 Utama yesterday in the early afternoon. The group which consists of eight people including a Caucasian girl who is believed to be German were spotted walking around the precinct of the shopping mall dressed in what many shoppers account to be formal evening wears.
"One of them, a Chinese guy, was wearing a red batik. My initial reaction was that he was the Menteri Kewangan (Finance Minister) along with his entourage and that they were going to officiate an event,"said housewife Siti Kamariah, who also claimed that she wanted to go salam (shake hands) with him but was stopped by her husband. We checked with the management of 1 Utama and they refuted the fact that there were any official event being carried out on that day.
The reported teenagers were first spotted at the GSC cinema lounge where a heavy discussion seem to ensue. Later on they were seen entering a Korean barbeque restaurant situated in the Ground floor .
"They were certainly a bunch of characters. Three of them ordered our line of kid's meal called Sunny Bunny and they all seem to be in a rush to get their orders," said a female waiter at the restaurant who would rather not disclose her name.
After lunch, they were spotted entering the hall of GSC cinema. A check with the ticket counter said that they were watching the musical Mamma Mia! (In cinemas near you everywhere now). After about two hours, the group of teenagers were seen exiting the cinema hall in a merry mood.
"I was sitting behind them in the theater. A few of them were singing to all the songs in the movies. But then again, almost everyone in the hall were singing. The show was great!" said college student Veronica Chan who catched the movie with her boyfriend.
The group were later spotted at the game arcade above the cinema where a report we received said that a few of them including the young Chinese woman thrashed the other gamers at a racing game. Eyewitnesses who saw the group of teenagers leaving the arcade said that they were engaging in acts of "camwhoring" (the act of taking random self-photographs which many of the younger gernerations are so fond of nowadays) at various locations of the shopping complex before finally leaving in the evening.
One of the teens released in a statement today, "We did not in any ways, acted or have led others to believe that we have acted in such a decadent manner. All the allegations were merely salicious lies aimed at a bunch of young people who are just out to have some fun."
We try to contact the representative for the other seven teenagers but were not met with an immediate response.
